
At a glittering ceremony at the Millennium Centre in
Cardiff on Thurs, July 14th 2005 Environment Minister
Carwyn Jones commended the Ogmore Anglers River Clean
up Team for their hard work and brave efforts, who took
second place in the River improvements category at the
annual Tidy Wales Awards.
Organised by Keep Wales Tidy in partnership with Environment
Agency Wales and the Wales Tourist Board. Whom aim to
encourage people to take action to clean up and improve
their environment.
Twenty-four groups were shortlisted in the various categories
and they shared the £5,000 cash prize. The best
effort from the nine categories was awarded the top prize.
The category winners were-
Tidy Wales Award Trophy- Forward 4 Fairyland,
Neath Port Talbot;
Long Term Effort- Snowdonia Society,
Gwynedd;
River Improvement- Fairbridge Cymru,
Cardiff; 2nd place Ogmore Anglers
Beach Improvement- Pennar Coastcare,
Pembrokeshire;
Business Award- St David's Shopping Centre,
Cardiff;
Schools Section- Cwmafan Infant and Junior
School, Neath Port Talbot;
Large Partnership Event- Forward 4 Fairyland,
Neath Port Talbot;
Town or Community Council- Llanddulas
and Rhydyfoel Community Council, Conwy;
Best clean up event- Walkabout Flintshire,
Flint.
