Throughout
the winter months, every Monday evening the Ogmore
Anglers have held, fly tying classes for new and
experienced tiers, in the Conservative Club, Bridgend
Town Centre.
The meetings consist of two separate fly
tying demonstrations, in house competitions and
or course with a wealth of expert advice on hand.
This years fly schedule has covered a wide variety
of flies not only used on the River Ogmore &
Ewenny, but also many popular patterns used on UK
still waters. |

This
seasons final evening, Monday 1st March, the club
were fortunate to have the well know guest speaker,
Mr Alun Rees, fly
inventor & tier, avid sea trout angler and most
recently featured writer for Flyfisherman magazine.
Alun's lecture included some of his favourite sea
trout flies along with these beautifully crafted
patterns, we were privy to his extensive knowledge
of fly tying & fishing techniques. Alun fishes
most of the sea trout rivers in Wales and during
the season, regualry spends 3/4 nights a week on
the river bank. In his own words he has a very understanding
wife.....
For all who missed
the evening, hopefully Alun will return with I'm
sure with even more wise words and more wonderful
flies.
The fly tying club
wishes to thank Alun Rees, Dai Criddle, the Conservative
Club, Bridgend, for the venue and all whom attended
this years sessions.
