  What Has Happened to DEMOCRACY in Bridgend

Bridgend Council Leader JEFF JONES has instigated changes to local town planning rules in a cynical attempt to force through the unpopular development at ISLAND FARM.

The 3rd application for this development was submitted to the Bridgend Council Planners on the 23rd Jan 2003. There has been no alteration to the plans it is UNCHANGED! Even though thousands of people objected to the other applications. It appears that this development is being rushed through before the public inquiry report due in April 2003.

Your Help is urgently requested PLEASE object again and don't let this HAPPEN...

  • Flangrant abuse of power....
  • Destruction of European protected domice and thier habitat.
  • Traffic chaos on the A48 with new traffic lights on Ewenny Road and the Tesco, Waterton and Broadlands roundabouts!
  • Hundreds of £500,000 homes for which there is no demand.
  • Further over stretching of amenities. Local schools and surgeries have expressed serious concerns or objections
  • The loss of WDA backed "technium" / technology park, which could provide 1300 jobs - to housing
  • £millions of profit for developers with potential massive cost to local people.
  • Irreversible loss of sensitive countryside adjoining the internationlly renowned and ancient village of Merthyr Mawr

 

What you can do:

1. Object to the Assembly via IFAG [island farm action group]

2. Distribute leaflets to friends and colleagues
